Bastiaan Stories

Bastiaan, a strong boy.

In the picturesque village of Wijchen lived a boy named Bastiaan. He was a very strong boy for his age, with broad shoulders and muscular arms. His strength was so impressive that no one in the village could defeat him in an arm wrestling match or even lift a simple stone as he could.

On a sunny morning, Bastiaan decided to use his strength to help the village. The residents of Wijchen were busy with the harvest, but the heavy baskets of vegetables and fruits were difficult to lift and move. Bastiaan offered to help. With a big smile on his face, he lifted the baskets one by one effortlessly. The work that would normally take days was completed within a few hours. The entire village was amazed by his strength and thanked him for his kind assistance.

Later that day, Bastiaan heard an unusual sound coming from the forest. Curious as he was, he decided to investigate. He followed the sound deeper into the woods and discovered a large group of animals trapped in a mud pool. They couldn’t escape the mud and seemed helpless.

Without hesitation, Bastiaan knew he had the power to rescue them. With all his might, he lifted one animal after another out of the mud and placed them safely on dry land. There were deer, rabbits, hedgehogs, and even a small fox. When he was done, the animals looked at him with gratitude and happily ran back into the forest.

The news of Bastiaan’s heroic deed spread quickly through the village, and soon he became a well-known figure in the surrounding area. People from distant villages came to see him and witness his strength firsthand. However, Bastiaan wasn’t boastful and remained humble despite the respect he received.

One day, a message arrived from the nearby castle. The king had heard about Bastiaan’s strength and had a special task for him. In the castle, there was a huge, old clock that had been broken for years. No one had been able to move the heavy hands to make time tick again.

Bastiaan accepted the challenge and journeyed to the castle. The clock was indeed enormous, but that didn’t deter him. With a final exertion, Bastiaan carefully pushed the hands of the clock into motion. Slowly, the clock began to tick, and everyone in the castle was thrilled that time had been restored.

The king was deeply impressed by Bastiaan’s strength and offered him a place at the court. However, Bastiaan politely declined and said he preferred to stay in his beloved village of Wijchen. He cherished his simple life and helping others.

And so, Bastiaan lived long and happily in Wijchen. He continued to use his strength to assist others and was always ready to extend a helping hand to anyone in need. The story of the strong boy continued to spread, and even long after he was gone, Bastiaan was remembered as a true hero in the hearts of everyone who had known him.
