Bastiaan Stories

Last day Helden

Bastiaan walked with a broad smile along the narrow cobblestone streets of Helden, as the last rays of the sun slowly disappeared behind the horizon. It was his last day in this picturesque little village, where he had enjoyed a wonderful vacation. It had been a holiday filled with adventure, fun, and friendship. With his red cap and a backpack full of memories on his back, he felt cheerful and a bit melancholic.

During his time in Helden, Bastiaan had made new friends. Together, they had played hide-and-seek for hours among the old oak trees, taken adventurous bike rides through the green fields, and laughed until their bellies hurt. These were moments he would cherish forever.

On this warm evening, Bastiaan strolled calmly by the calm water of the river that meandered through the village. His reflection danced on the water’s surface as he skipped pebbles across the water. He watched the ripples spread and fade, just like his time in Helden. As the evening descended, Bastiaan began to walk slowly back home. The small cottage where he was staying felt like a second home. The smell of freshly baked rolls wafted from the bakery on the corner, filling his nose as he drew nearer. He thought about the friendly baker who greeted him every morning with a warm smile.

Along the way, he saw the familiar faces of the villagers who greeted him kindly. They all knew him by name now, and it felt as if he had always lived there. That was the magic of Helden: the village embraced you like a family member, even if you were only there temporarily.

Once he arrived at the cottage, Bastiaan noticed his parents were already busy packing their belongings. Tomorrow, they would be heading back home, back to the bustle of the city. Bastiaan felt a knot in his stomach at the thought. He wasn’t ready to leave yet; he wanted to stay here and play in the expansive fields forever.

The evening passed with coziness and laughter. Bastiaan and his parents shared stories about their time in Helden as they enjoyed a final delicious dinner at the village’s charming café. Time flew by, and before they knew it, it was time to go to bed. Bastiaan lay in bed and looked out the window at the bright starry sky. He felt a mixture of happiness and nostalgia. He would be leaving tomorrow, but the memories of his adventures in Helden would always stay with him.

As he slowly closed his eyes, he decided that he would never forget this vacation. He would think back to the friendly people, the beautiful nature, and the unforgettable moments he had experienced here. And who knows, perhaps one day he would return to this enchanting village, where dreams became reality, even if only for a short while like his own. With that thought in mind, Bastiaan eventually fell into a deep, peaceful sleep, his heart filled with warm memories of a summer full of joy in Helden.
