Job Summary

Technician responsible for quality testing enzymes using techniques such as SDS-page, HPLC, and western blotting. Worked on purifying enzymes using various methods on the AKTA system, ion exchange chromatography (IEX), hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC), size exclusion chromatography (SEC), ultrafiltration, and cross-flow filtration. Was also involved in annotating and cloning enzymes for over-expression in a fungal expression system through PCR, cloning, transformations (E.coli/fungal), and southern blotting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Annotation of Enzyme genes using RNA expression data, and DNA genome sequencing data.
  • Make DNA constructs and cloning enzymes for over-expression in a fungal expression system.
  • Purify proteins using AKTA-based techniques.
  • Test the quality of produced enzyme and enzyme mixes using techniques such as SDS-page, HPLC, and enzyme assays.
