Pea Soup

Traditional Dutch pea soup with bacon and vegetables.

Ingredients

  • 1 onion
  • 500g split peas
  • 250g bacon strips
  • 250g celeriac
  • 1 carrot
  • bay leaf
  • 1 leek

Instructions

Cook split peas, bay leaf and bacon strips in 2 liters of water for 45 minutes. Stir regularly and remove foam. Meanwhile chop the remaining vegetables. Add the vegetables after 45 minutes and cook for another 30 minutes. Optionally add pieces of smoked sausage.
